Networking, Mentoring and volunteering: the keys for succeed in Business, by Margot Thièvre

       This article will enlighten you Business in the United States, through two atypical and different women who succeed on the social and economical structures. Indeed, Valérie Beck « Chocolate Expert » possess an Arts bachelor and a Juris Doctor from Harvard; whereas Mary Vallender a realtor of luxury homes, has a MBA and extensive business experience. These two entrepreneurs decided to change their line of work. We will analyze their professional process and give you the keys for a successful business in this country.

            First of all, Business practices all around the world but in different ways. We’ll focus on the United States. It’s more easier to start a Business here than in France! How to become an experienced person? What are the most important steps for starting a business and gain customers?
The main component to do is networking, through being a member of a « corporation » and participate to professional sessions. All professional, from the same area, are part of those occurrences. One advice: choose a community, which matches your costumer’s target. Why a presence is necessary? To meet potential clients and professional whom have the same type of client that you need in your business. It’s an exchange between businesses by helping each other and doing good publicity. The main goal is to increase your network. You understand that is the first key for starting.
Then, mentoring teaches the best way to become an entrepreneur through small businesses programs and private consulting. They act as a guide in the business side. Finally, the volunteering helps to believe and be involved in different causes. These businesswomen help for free by bringing their love of life, which is perceived as their mission.

However, you can’t network if you didn’t learn how introducing yourself and your business. There are some codes in the professional world that have to be respected. They are essentials to succeed and to put you out there. All businessmen will say that it’s frightening, but you have to take the risk.
Nowadays, all businesses survive thanks to contacts. Consequently, it’s important to make marketing connections.

But how our two businesswomen started?
On the one hand, when Valerie Beck starting, she knew that she had to find an idea, a target and then an action plan. Her idea was an original chocolate tour, but she had no money and no customers. Valerie used her contacts in law firm, and she began to propose her activities. She built a strong network of clients, vendors, community leaders, other professionals and business owners. Her business grew very quickly, and now is much more diversified.

On the other hand, Mary Vallender worked in a small Marketing company when she decided to change her life. She knew Marketin & Sale; moreover she had built a career listening, analyzing and solving problems. So, Mary decided to become a Realtor in luxury home.  She started from scratch and learnt, that in the US to succeed in business, you have to be referred by another professional. Therefore, she multiplied actions such as joining sessions as River North Group, to meet people, to let them know that she is a realtor and a good one! She built an image in which she wanted to be associated with credibility and integrity. And she always kept in touch with people. Now, Mary Vallender is respected in her environment, and work for @properties.

       To conclude, both of these Women are businesspersons. They network a lot; it’s the new way to do business, by sharing contacts to another contacts. They really well understood this new process. Also, they are human people too, that’s why mentoring and volunteering are so essential.
